International Computer Security Association
It’s a small world. Really, it is. Computers seem to have a magic shrinking ability that causes distances to close and shrinks areas at an alarming rate. We can now experience things that are happening from around the world in real time. We can communicate directly with people for free and we can do business with people in countries far away, all with the help of our computers.
It really can seem like the entire world is now simply one gargantuan online community. This is a wonderful thing and makes so many things possible, opens so many doors and creates an environment where people can work and play together from opposite sides of the Earth. With this open community, there are, unfortunately opportunities for not only business and personal relationships to develop across borders, but also for crimes to be committed.
Because of this there is a great need for security systems to be in place to keep things as safe as possible online. Unfortunately it is all too easy for crackers to find their way into computer networks and get their hands on information that they can use in the wrong way, or even to simply destroy what people have created and worked for.
International computer security is essential for people to be able to interact online across borders. It is necessary that there be regulations in place that will allow people to have good software to fight against malware and all sorts of threats to the security of their data.
The International Computer Security Association provides just such services. They research and work for certification and testing of computer security products such as antivirus, firewall, cryptography, IPsec VPN, network IPS, anti-spyware and other such products.
Having this international organization that provides certification programs for security related software makes it much easier for individuals and businesses to protect their computers and all the data stored in them and the activity they do on them in a way that is effective and uniform across borders.
Imagine the scenario if anti-malware software was of poor quality in a far away country with which you did business online. The fact that their computers are at greater risk automatically puts your computer and personal information at risk as well. Having these certifications means that the standard is set so that people communicating across borders don’t have to worry too much about a reduced level of security.
What began as the National Computer Security Association has become and international group and they not only certify software, but also test and provide intelligence that helps to keep that software up to date and ahead of the hackers and all of their tricks of sabotage.
